2022 — Trip to Zamami

 June 15, 2022 — ABOARD KNOTTY GIRL — Left Ginowan Marina at 10:45 a.m. with Kevin Parrington. Sailed most of the day under 1 reef sail. Maximum winds were 20th and average speed was 3 Kts. Mostly overcast skies and sunny skies until we reached Kerama Straight. 

Hit by a squall. Before we got hit by squall we furled in genoa and dropped main sail and motored up the channel until we arrived at the port at 1645. As we were coming in Zamami Port, Queen Zamami Ferry blew two horns as we pulled into the port. We hit pier a little hard with bow pulpit as I didn’t adequately inform Kevin on the docking procedures. 

Had problems again with the knot meter. I was able to adjust it and it started to work. Trip length: 24 nautical miles.

EAST CHINA SEA (April 13, 2021) — YouTubers — S/V Shinki Itten — joined the crew of S/V Knotty Girl for a two-hour sunset cruise. Captain Vincent of S/V Taihei also joined for the trip. The Shinki Itten crew — James and Ayano — is visiting Okinawa for the first time so Capt. J wanted to make the trip up the coast fun with a few extra hands. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. This was also Capt. Vincent’s first sail aboard S/V Knotty Girl, a 1996 Okazaki-made 34-foot cruiser.

DJ Skeezy and fam

ABOARD S/V KNOTTY GIRL (APRIL 9, 2022) -- DJ Skeezy and DJ Em returned to Okinawa recently for a family vacation and finally got the chance to take a sunset cruise aboard my boat. They brought their two-year-old son along and crew member Dan also joined us for the ride.  I originally met DJ Skeezy when I was playing gigs on ukulele at the old Pour House adjacent to Alaha Park. He moved off of Okinawa a few years ago but we've remained friends on Facebook. So, when he returned I wanted to show he what's he's been missing in Okinawa. Afterward we had a party on the boat and got to view a nearly perfect sunset.
