Thanksgiving in Zamami Island 2021 -- Return Trip

We -- crew members Dan, Alisa and I -- departed Zamami Island at 12:30 on Nov. 26, 2021. Although the trip was originally planned for three-days, a forecast of high winds and seven to 11 foot seas, had us rethinking our return trip.

And I'm glad we did as the trip wound up taking nearing 12 hours as we sailed directly into the wind to try to get back to Ginowan Harbor.

This return trip really got me thinking that I should look more into my navigation skills as the trip beating to the wind has us tacking quite a bit. Also we overshot our approach to Ginowan Harbor and had to cut back as we missed the navigation lights of buoy 2.

EAST CHINA SEA (April 13, 2021) — YouTubers — S/V Shinki Itten — joined the crew of S/V Knotty Girl for a two-hour sunset cruise. Captain Vincent of S/V Taihei also joined for the trip. The Shinki Itten crew — James and Ayano — is visiting Okinawa for the first time so Capt. J wanted to make the trip up the coast fun with a few extra hands. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. This was also Capt. Vincent’s first sail aboard S/V Knotty Girl, a 1996 Okazaki-made 34-foot cruiser.

DJ Skeezy and fam

ABOARD S/V KNOTTY GIRL (APRIL 9, 2022) -- DJ Skeezy and DJ Em returned to Okinawa recently for a family vacation and finally got the chance to take a sunset cruise aboard my boat. They brought their two-year-old son along and crew member Dan also joined us for the ride.  I originally met DJ Skeezy when I was playing gigs on ukulele at the old Pour House adjacent to Alaha Park. He moved off of Okinawa a few years ago but we've remained friends on Facebook. So, when he returned I wanted to show he what's he's been missing in Okinawa. Afterward we had a party on the boat and got to view a nearly perfect sunset.
